Officer Rutowski and Figuaroa Sisters
A uniformed police officer is handing a teddy bear to a young child, as another child is eating and smiling. Caption reads: "Wauwatosa's police station was host to a couple of wandering little girls for several hours Thursday. Patrolman Ray L. Rutowski obtained ice cream for Frances Figuaroa (left), 4, and her sister, Mitzi, 3, daughters of Mrs. Charlotte Figuaroa, a divorcee, of 2424 N. Humboldt av. Wauwatosa police took the girls off a Transport Co. bus at Milwaukee av. and Church st. after the bus driver realized that they were riding without adult supervision. They apparently had started joy riding on buses shortly after their mother had let them out to play early Thursday. The children were turned over to a grandmother while a conference between the mother and children's court authorities was being arranged. The mother said she had not missed the children because she was busy cleaning house." |
