Newsletter Photo Souvenir
Front page of the fake, humorous newsletter titled Dells Events. The front page includes a sepia-toned picture of a girl (Jessica Trumble) dressed as a cowgirl and holding the reins for Tony the Pony. The image is surrounded by news articles that refer to Dells tourism and attractions. The back page can be seen in image ID: 145248 and shows a mugshot of Black Bart as "Wanted" beneath a story about his train robbery at Fort Dells and a cheeky ad for the Wood Tick Inn. The newsletter is a two-fold mailer designed to frame the photograph, and the mailer also serves as an advertisement and order form for reprints. It was created by Trumble Photography (formerly Dells Photo Service), owned and operated by John Trumble. He made the open prairie backdrop for this taxidermied pony and other stuffed animals like bucking horses and a buffalo for portrait customers visiting his "pitcher gallery" at Fort Dells. This souvenir with the photographer's daughter's picture is a sample. |
