Lucy Rumsey Holt was President of the Oconto City Women's Club at the time this civic project was undertaken. "The first Christian Science Church building in the world stands in the middle of this area in the fork made by the junction of Chicago and Main Streets. In the triangle of land in the front of this church is a tiny park containing a handsome hand-hewn stone horse-watering fountain erected in 1916 by the Oconto Woman's Club-to replace a trough considered an eyesore after the street was first paved."
