According to Shan Holt in June 2019, "The water level at Archibald Lake changes every year, as it depends entirely on the local water table. The family frequently tries to intervene with breakwaters, logs, brush, and other natural traps/barriers to protect the beaches from erosion. I suspect this picture is one of those moments. The Island Lodge beach is particularly fragile because it protrudes out into the current." "Juliet Stroh was a forthright, and, for her time, liberated woman, so her outfit and hair would not be out of character," according to Shan Holt. Pete Blanchard and Juliet Stroh married in 1926. They eventually settled in the Hermit as their cottage, renaming it Pine Knot. |
