What are Your Taxes Buying in El Salvador?
Poster advocating against United States governmental support for the Salvadoran military and government. The poster reproduces a photograph of people, including armed officers, standing around a corpse in the street. A caption identifies the dead person as "Jose Menjivar Flores, 35, Professor of Economics, University of El Salvador, killed by Death Squads, 14 August 1987." The poster also covers Flores' body with a white square that includes a chalk outline, and includes a separate close-up of his body with stylized drawn blood pouring from him. Text reads: "Help end U.S. support for the Death Squad Government in El Salvador. There is an alternative. Call 'Winning Democracy' 212-925-0161." |
