U.S. Navy hydrofoil, "The Monitor," built by Baker Manufacturing Company (Evansvile, Wisconsin) on Lake Mendota. Dubbed the "sailboat that flies," it had ladder-like hydrofoils on either side of the hull, propelling it more than 30 miles per hour. |
