Urea used for Brain Surgery at University Hospital
A brain surgery operation is in progress at the University of Wisconsin Hospital. A urea and inert sugar solution developed at the University is used to lower the intracranial pressure within the patient's skull. The urea solution was researched and developed by Dr. Paul Settladge, Associate Professor of Anatomy; Dr. Louis Busse, Professor of Pharmacy; and Dr. Manucher Javid, Professor of Neurosurgery. |
