Lake Gatun
| Palm trees and defoliated deciduous trees stand in the waters of Lake Gatun near Colon, Panama. The lake was formed by building a dam across the Chagres River during the construction of the Panama Canal. The lake is a major part of the canal, providing a 21 mile long passage for ships. |

| George Frederick Brumder and his wife, Thekla Wollaeger Brumder, traveled to the West Indies and the Panama Canal in March 1913, before the official opening of the canal in August, 1914. George F. Brumder was the son of Milwaukee publisher George Brumder, and succeeded his father as president of the company. |
