GAR Daughters Honor Civil War Veterans
A group of the Wisconsin Section of the National Daughters of the Grand Army of the Republic organization laying a memorial wreath to Civil War veterans at Forest Hill Cemetery. The event was part of their annual encampment taking place at the Park Hotel. Laying the wreath on a grave marker is Bessie Western, Wisconsin department commander of the organization. Color guards at the ceremony include, left to right: Clio Wetzel, Georgina Johnson, Florence Baker, Cora McLaughlin, all of La Crosse. Also Ida Black from Janesville, and Violet Hartel, Ft. Atkinson. |
