Tower View
Three photographs taped together form a panoramic view from the top of the wooden tower built by George Brumder in 1892. The tower was built on Brumder's summer estate on Pine Lake. At far left (northwest) is Okauchee Lake, with Jacob Jacobson's house and barn standing to the left of two fields with corn shocks. The center photograph, facing east, shows, from left, North Lake, beyond Brumder's recently built barn; the smaller Mud Lake; and the northern end of Pine Lake. On the horizon beyond Mud Lake is the old white wooden church at Holy Hill. Also shown at right in the center photograph is Brumder's Germania statue on its white stone plinth near the shore of Pine Lake, and in the foreground, a horse hitched to an empty carriage. The photograph at right, facing south, includes most of Pine Lake with its island and at extreme left, a glimpse of Beaver Lake. At extreme right is a similar glimpse of Nagawicka Lake. At left center of the right photograph is the roof of Brumder's summer home; his boathouse and gazebo are to the left of the main house. |
