Portrait of 2-year old Laura Foster (b. 1941) sitting in a dark-colored, highly-carved chair. She is wearing her maternal great-grandmother's girlhood dress from 1862-1863. The dress is white with small polka dots. It is knee-length, off-the-shoulder, and has two horizontal tucks near the skirt hem and a puffy bodice. Anne also has a hair bow in her blonde hair. Laura's great-grandmother was Mary Adell "Della" (Waldo) Henderson (1858-1939). Della wore this dress in Winneconne (Winnebago County), Wisconsin. The photograph was taken in Rockford, Illinois or Green Bay, Wisconsin. |
