Henriette Brumder Birthday Celebration
Henriette Brandhorst Brumder, sitting in the center holding two of her infant grandchildren, posing with family members for a portrait on her 80th birthday. The family has gathered in the living room of the Brumder house at the corner of Grand (now Wisconsin) Avenue and 18th Street. Several of the children are holding bouquets. The furnishings reflect the time period in which the house was built, ca. 1895. There are heavy drapes with lace sheers on the windows, and transitional chandeliers, fitted for both gas and electric lights. Henriette was the widow of Milwaukee publisher and businessman George Brumder. |
