Serving Tea, a Gracious Custom
Sitting in front of the fireplace in the family home at 535 Wisconsin Avenue are Mrs. Lucien (Mary) Hanks, her daughter and two friends. They are (left to right): daughter, Sybil; Mary Hank; Elsie Moore, and Mrs. Thomas Priesley. A silver tea set on a small table is standing between them in the living room. The tea service has been used daily by the family for nearly 70 years. The photograph accompanies a newspaper article about the custom of serving tea daily at 4:00 pm every day with family and friends dropping in. |
