Taste Test
Five men, each with a small dish in front of them, are sitting around a table in the chemistry laboratory of the Robert A. Johnston Company. Several of the men appear to be making notes, and three of the men are wearing white lab coats. An open tin of Johnston Milk Chocolate Fudge Topping is sitting at the center of the table. There is also a beaker of milk and two unopened chocolate milk bottles on the table. A hand written note on the reverse of the photograph identifies the "RAJ Co. Chemistry Lab," and the men, clockwise from left, as: "Ned, N.J. Russel, Petran, Bill Manschot, and Dan Wing." Ned is Edward Crandall Johnston (1912-1955), the grandson of the company's founder Robert A. Johnston, and the son of Walter Vail Johnston. Robert A. Johnston Co. made cookies, candy, chocolate and other foods in Milwaukee, and later in West Allis, from 1899 until 1969. |
