Subject: "U-9 — Material Handling." Where Taken: "SW." Information with photograph reads: "Owned by The California Co., New Orleans, La. Used with a derrick in the storage yards at Lafitte, La. This fifteen ton derrick with a eighty-foot boom is used to stock pile materials in the storage and repair yard operated by the production division of the California Co., local offices at Harvey, La. The long boom which unloas equipment from barges, lifts small boats from the water for repair and is the center of all material handling in the yard. The unit is shown unloading the machinery from a drilling barge for inspection and repair. The unit operates on natural gas and has been used approximately 4,000 hours since purchased in January, 1946." |
