Subject: "UD-16 — Road Building." Where Taken: "NE." Information with photograph reads: "Owned by Landers & Griffin, Portsmouth, N.H. Used with Adams motor grader, Model 601. Heavy and fine grading on 1 1/2 mi. stretch of 3 mi. road contract on State Rte. 102 between Nashua & Derry, N.H. New road through woods to straighten out very curving old road which was a menace to the section. Ground is full of huge rocks and also in sections old pavement must be torn up. Operator is hard on equipment running engine in high gear in all the work. He claims under ordinary circumstances he can rough and fine grad approx. 2 miles per day with 601 and UD-16 power." |
