Navy Chief Wallace Zabler Retires
Lt. Commander Wallace E. Zabler salutes the Navy and Marines in the review of troops who officially "piped him over the sides" at his retirement ceremonies Friday. He retired from twenty-three years of Navy service and served two years as Commander of the Naval and Marine Corps reserve training center in Madison. In 1942 Zabler was captured in Java, Indonesia, as a POW and sold to the Japanese for $7.50. He was imprisoned for forty-two months in Bangkok, Thailand. |
