Portrait of a Baby Lillian Wheeler
Baby Lillian Wheeler, wearing a dress, is standing on a pile of lumber with support from her mother Anna (Holt) Wheeler. Lillian's brother Gordon Wheeler, wearing a wide-brimmed hat, is also standing on the lumber, to the left of his sister with Ellen Holt behind him. Minnie May Rumsey is standing on the far right. In the background, Arthur Wheeler is getting out of the boat. Archibald Lake and the tree-lined shore are in the background. |

According to Shan Holt in June 2019, "The woman standing behind Gordon Wheeler is Ellen Holt, known to the kids as Aunt Nell. She was a favorite among the Holt and Rumsey kids, as many unmarried women tended to be, helping mothers look after the children. The woman standing at right on the shore is Minnie May Rumsey, Lucy Rumsey Holt's sister. She and Aunt Nell were great friends, as neighbors in Lake Forest, IL and women who did not marry. Possibly Aunt May is there to welcome Aunt Nell." |
