Formal group portrait of the Hannah Johnson Family. In the front are (l to r) Maude, Hannah (mother) and Marguerite. In the back are Ruth, Ozzie, Mildred, June, Allan and Mabel. Hannah's daughter, Ruth S. (Johnson) Shuttleworth, worked as a stenographer at the State Historical Museum from 1917 to 1946, an assistant to Dr. Charles E. Brown, Director of the Museum from 1908 to 1944. Another daughter, June E. Johnson, worked at the State Historical Society of Wisconsin as a librarian from 1948 to ca. 1980. Her son, Allan, worked on a CWA archaeology survey for Charles E. Brown in 1934. The parents were Swedish immigrants, though all of the children were born in the Midwest. The children's father, Frank A. Johnson, died in 1919. |
