The Atrium
View across North Pinckney Street towards the Atrium, originally two buildings: The Ellsworth Block and the Maeder Building. The original sandstone facade is covered by metal panels, a technique used by stores to give older buildings a modern look without the cost of reconstruction. The building contains Simpsons, a department store. Mannequins in woman's clothing are on display in the show windows. Two Yellow Cab Co. taxis are parked outside of the store, with a taxi driver waiting in the one on the right. |
