Coming to the Island, the Holt family and their guests usually got off the train in Lakewood, boarded a wagon and rode to Apple Tree Landing on Archibald Lake. Next they got on a boat and rode to the Island. A baggage raft was often used to transport luggage for the travelers. "The landing took its name from the apple trees which once grew there."
