This photo shows Lucy Rumsey Holt taking photographs in the field, specifically while rowing a boat. Lucy and W.A. Holt were devout Presbyterians. They were active members of the First Presbyterian church in Oconto, WI starting in the 1890's. They also had connections to the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Forest, Illinois. "Clinker built is a method of boat building where the edges of the hull planks overlap," similar to shingles. This technique is also called lapstrake.
