Visit of the Czar
The visit of the Czar of Bulgaria to the Austrian headquarters. The Czar is decorating an Austrian corporal who single-handedly held a fighting position in the Carpathians for five hours against enemy attack. He is being given the Golden medal for Bravery along with a Bulgarian decoration. The czar is in the middle of the image. Archduke Frederick is on the right. |

Bulgaria entered World War One, on the side of the central Powers, in the Fall of 1915, and participated in the Austro-Hungarian invasion of Serbia. Czar Ferdinand served as ruler of Bulgaria until his abdication in 1918. Caption in German is illegible. |
