Shell mounds are archeological features created from the waste, or middens, of mollusks eaten by humans thousands of years ago. See also Image IDs: 136688 and 136817 for other views of this field. As assistant curator of Beloit College's Logan Museum of Anthropology, Alonzo Pond participated in several expeditions to Algeria between 1925 and 1930.
