Walter Cass Newberry House
An unidentified woman and girl are posing on the drive leading to a brick house behind mature pines. The house was built in the 1890's by General Walter Cass Newberry as a summer home on the former estate of Governor Nelson Dewey. Dewey had built a house on this site in 1868, which burned in 1873. The Newberry house was built on the foundation of the old house, and is now part of Stonefield Historic Site. |
