Handwritten caption in German is illegible. The Senussi were a Muslim political-religious order and clan, founded in the 19th Century and centered in what is modern-day Libya. Opposed to Italian and British imperialism, they supported the military efforts of the Ottoman Turks and launched a guerrilla campaign against the British in Egypt in 1916. |
