Soldiers' Monument
The Soldiers' Monument, first erected in the United States to the memory of the Union Soldiers. In the center on a lawn is a tall marble column with Old Abe (eagle symbol) at the top holding a wreath, perched on an orb. The monument is surrounded by smaller marble columns and a cannon. The courthouse is on the right, and a church building is in the far background. Caption reads: "Soldiers' Monument, Lancaster, Wis. First erected in the United States to the memory of the Union Soldiers." |
