Glander Art Studio, Gift Shop I | Photograph | Wisconsin Historical Society
Elevated view, facing west, of the Glander Art Studio's 1st floor gift shop with its checkerboard floor and bright, storefront windows. The entrance door from Washington Street is on the left. Framed photographs, prints, lamps, mirrors and giftware are arranged on counters, cabinets and in window areas. A bookcase is holding part of their rental library. The Glander Building was constructed in 1914 as the home of John Glander's photography studio, art and gift shop on the corner of S. 9th and Washington Streets. The 1st floor interior was remodeled a number of times. The gift shop operated from 1914-1936. Following that time, part of the space was rented to Rahr Electric Appliance Co. for several years. Other renters followed.
