Handwritten caption in German is illegible. Probably not an original Frankl image since he did not accompany this naval sortie. The cruiser Midilli, which was taken into Ottoman service at the start of the war, formed part of a squadron which attacked Russian ports in November 1914 leading to a Russian declaration of war against Turkey. |
