Terry Andrae State Park opened in 1929, following the 1928 donation of land on the shore of Lake Michigan by Elsbeth Andrae, the widow of Milwaukee businessman Terry Andrae (1868-1927). Adjacent land was donated to the state in 1966 and became John Michael Kohler State Park, named for John Michael Kohler (1844-1900), founder of the Kohler Corporation. The two parks are managed as one unit, known as Kohler-Andrae State Park. |
