Comet 7-D Aircraft Engine
Straight-on view of the front crankcase of a 7-D Comet aircraft engine on a stand. It was made in front of a sheer backdrop inside a factory, with windows in the background. The engine had valves fore and aft, the latter bearing an exhaust valve for better cooling by air. The spark plugs are placed on the sides of the cylinder heads, made of a steel barrel. A design of the Comet Engine Corporation in 1928, the 7-D engine was manufactured on a Gisholt turret lathe in Madison, Wisconsin. |
