The total number captured was close to 1000, but many were suffering from wounds and gas. They were immediately moved to the field hospitals for treatment, the remainder being taken to the division post command for interview by intelligence officers. A great number of the prisoners had come direct from the Russian front in order to attempt to stem the tide of advance from north of Verdun. |
