Wood County Dam
A view looking downstream at a recently built concrete dam with four gates. A note on the reverse of the photograph reads: "Dam built by WPA in drainage ditch. More than 30 dams of this type have been placed in drainage ditches in this Central Wisconsin area to check the uncontrolled drainage which has lowered the ground moisture level until the surrounding country has become virtual desert." |
