Poster
The Victory Loan Flyers

Poster depicting a locomotive speeding along railroad tracks with airplanes flying overhead. The airplanes have the markings associated with American warplanes from 1919 to 1942, and painted on the bottom of the wings is an encircled star with a second circle in its center. Poster text reads: "The Victory Loan Flyers. Watch for the Airplane Special." This is in reference to a common publicity practice during the loan drives: pilots from the U.S. Army Signal Corps would fly over small communities and perform aerial shows, then land and offer flights to persons who bought bonds. |
