These Knowing Devil Dogs at Training Camp Do Know

These Knowing Devil Dogs at Training Camp Do Know | Poster | Wisconsin Historical Society
Poster featuring a photograph of a group of Marine recruits posing with their rifles. Some are holding signs that read: "IF YOU DONT [sic] KNOW YOU GET KILLED." Poster text reads: "These Knowing Devil Dogs at Training Camp Do Know. Paris Island, S.C. — 'If you don't know you get killed!' U.S. Marine recruits find this sign everywhere they turn. So they know. Secretary Daniels recently said, 'You can't kill a U. S. Marine or drown one.' And here's the answer. U.S. Marines are trained to know all there is to know about finishing off the other fellow while protecting their own lives skillfully. To die for one's country is a glorious death. But to But to live for one's country while sending scores of the enemy to the Great Beyond is the acid test of soldier efficiency. How about the Bois de Belleau? Ask Fritz — he knows. This Photo Furnished by U.S. Marine Corps Recruiting Station."
