Ms. Young graduated from the Eau Claire Teachers College, and also studied at UW-Madison and Northwestern. She studied public school music education and served jobs in many towns before settling in Pasadena, California, in the 1930s. There, she served as a music teacher and later as president of the Pasadena Symphony Association, from 1953 to 1961. She was active in many community organizations, including the Red Cross during World War II.
