Dr. Uncle Sam
Poster including a cartoon illustration of Uncle Sam pouring medicine into a spoon for two bed-ridden patients, the "Wage Earner" and the "Wage Payer." The medicine bottle is labeled: "Co-operation." Next to Uncle Sam, a nurse labeled: "The Public" is sweeping up broken medicine bottles, which are labeled: "Agitator's Acid, Spirit of Discontent, and Legislative Ether." In the back of the room, a quack doctor whose medicine bag is labeled: "Agitation" is skulking out of the room. A cartoon blackbird is commenting: "A real doctor on the job now!" Poster text reads: "DR. UNCLE SAM is now in charge of our industrial troubles. He has prescribed a Victory Tonic called Co-operation. It will bring better feeling among our wage-earners and wage-payers and will cure strife. Quack remedies, known as legislative ether, spirits of discontent and agitator's acid, almost killed the patients. They are poisons, not remedies. CO-OPERATION WILL WIN THE WAR!" |
