Pam Johnson

Head and shoulders portrait of Pam Johnson, who in 1981 became the publisher for the "Ithaca Journal." This made her the first black woman to become publisher for a general-circulation newspaper in the United States. Ms. Johnson earned doctorates in journalism and educational psychology from the University of Wisconsin in 1963. She worked as a reporter for the "Chicago Tribune," and then moved back to Wisconsin, where she worked as a reporter for a Madison radio station and taught at the University. |
