Champion White Ash
A towering white ash, devoid of leaves, standing along the sidewalk in front of a two-story brick Norman revival house with a large chimney. There is a dusting of snow on the ground. The ash was the champion specimen of Fraxinus americana in Wisconsin until toppled by a windstorm in 1981. The tree was 79 feet tall and had a spread of 80 feet. Its trunk was 13 feet in circumference. |
