Hanerville Oak
A large, spreading bur oak standing directly in the intersection of Hammond and Hanerville Roads, both unpaved. There is a row of smaller trees lining Hanerville Road in the background. On the right is the one-story stone Hanerville School building. The large oak tree served as a section marker for surveyors in 1833. There are two metal panels with reflectors attached to the trunk of the tree. The tree died in 1976 and stood until it was removed in May, 1978. |
