Presidential Political Campaign Buttons
Framed assortment of political buttons for Ronald Reagan and running mate George H.W. Bush, and Walter Mondale and running mate Geraldine Ferraro (the first female vice presidential candidate). Two of the objects are bubble gum cigars, one for Fritz (Walter Mondale) and one for Reagan. One of the buttons reads: "I'm a Freeze voter," from the National Nuclear Weapons Freeze Campaign, which sought to pressure the government to end the nuclear arms buildup. One of the anti-Mondale buttons reads: "Mondale Eats Quiche," playing off of the cultural notion that quiche was an un-manly food. |
