Signal Oak
A tall bur oak at the corner of Ransom and West Thorne Streets dwarfs adjacent houses and their garages. The tree is bare and there is snow on the ground. The tree served as a marker or signal tree on the Butte des Morts Trail. At the time the photograph was taken, the tree measured more than 12 feet in circumference and was estimated to be over 200 years old. |
