The Cahn Residence

The Bertram and Irma Cahn House was designed by the architectural firm Keck and Keck as Project #213 in 1936. George Fred and William Keck were born in Watertown, Wisconsin, and operated an architectural office on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, Illinois. This photograph shows the living room fireplace, the dining space and the closed bar beyond in the Cahn house on Green Bay Road in Lake Forest, Illinois. Bertram Cahn was President and Chairman of Kuppenheimer Clothing Manufacturers in Chicago. Irma Cahn, after seeing the House of Tomorrow at the Chicago World's Fair (Century of Progress), wanted to have George Fred design her a "House of the Day After Tomorrow." |
