The Fargo Children
Five photographs are mounted on an album page which is decorated with a painting of a honeysuckle sprig. In the photograph at top left, Frank, age three, Stuart, age five, and Dorothy Fargo, age nine, are posing with their backs to the camera and their faces in one quarter view. The pose highlights the boys' long hair and Dorothy's braids, which are tied together with a ribbon. The top right photograph, probably taken the same day, shows the children in profile, sitting on a bench. At top center, a younger Dorothy and Stuart are wading in the pool at the base of a large fountain; the boy in the background is unidentified. The fountain stood on the lawn of the children's great uncle Robert Fargo's house, which was next door to their own. In the bottom left photograph, Stuart is posing alone, standing outdoors on a rug which has been spread on the lawn. He is wearing knickers with dark stockings and high-buttoned shoes. At bottom right, the Fargo children are posing with Anna Brown in a photograph dated 1901. |
