Emma Boyum
Emma Marie Boyum (nee Schroeder), mother of Sid Boyum, sitting in a large chair on the front porch of her home at 237 Waubesa Street on the east side of Madison. The top of a small garden rake is jutting out from behind her, and a sumac tree branch is hanging over a car parked on a driveway between her home and the neighbor's. The sidewalk up the street towards Atwood Avenue is visible in the far right of the photograph. Census records show that Emma began living at this residence with her younger brother, Edward, and her two youngest children (Sid and Bernice) since at least 1929; she maintained residency until her death, when Sid inherited the home. She died on October 27, 1974, at the age of 94. |
