A Topographical Map of the North Part of New York Island, Exhibiting the Plan of Fort Washington, now Fort Knyphausen

Map showing the British and Hessian attack on Fort Washington in November of 1776. The movements and fortifications of the British and Hessian troops appear in red, the American in black. The topography is remarkably detailed and illustrated, showing towns, roads, bridges, fortifications, barracks, farmland, orchards, hills, forests, rivers, and creeks. Numerous annotations throughout the map explain the location and movement of the armies. An illustration of The Pearl appears on the Hudson River just north of Fort Washington, other illustrations of ships show the landings of the British troops. |
