Broadside map showing the British invasion of New York city in August and September of 1776. The map shows important cities, forts, roads, hills, mountains, meadows, bays, and rivers. The fortifications and movement of the American forces appear in blue, the British forces in red. Depth is shown though soundings along the Hudson River, and illustrations of ships, often accompanied by the ships name, show the sites of naval battles and invasions. Numerous annotations throughout the map explain the location and movement of the armies, along with dates. A reference key is in the lower right corner offering further information on the Battle of Long Island.
