On the inside, the left panel a block print of an elderly woman (Sid's mother, Emma) in coat and scarf walking a street at night carrying a bag near a street lamp. The lamp light is in the shape of a large star. Text on the opposite page is a poem dedicated to his mother about her toil and sacrifices for children: "She's somebody's mother, Beholden with gray, Going to work, Each winter's day. "There is no room for self pity Not for herself, just alone, She asks for no 'thank yous' To make for her children, a home. "Endless are the kindnesses gave, With unselfish love in her heart, She made our world better, Just trying to do her part." The final line reads: "In memory of my mother." |
