Map or Atlas
A New Map of Virginia, Mary-Land, and the Improved Parts of Pennsylvania & New Jersey
Map of Maryland and surrounding states. It shows the boundaries, counties, cities, towns, rivers, and bays. Mountains, forests, and swamps appear pictorially, and occasionally named. Small notes appear throughout the mainland, and some of the islands, describing both the topography and inhabitants (Native American lands or plantations). Soundings show the depth of the Chesapeake Bay, Delaware Bay, and some of the larger rivers. A decorative border incorporating shell fish and tobacco (the two major exports) frames the title cartouche. |
