Two Sharks of Japan
A hand-colored lithograph prepared from drawings and descriptions of two shark specimens collected near Shimoda by members of Perry's Japan expedition. No. 1, top, a banded houndshark, is labeled Triakis scyllium. No. 2, labeled Cestracion phillippi, is a bullhead shark. The current accepted name is Heterodontus japonicus. |
